Well Child Outreach-Comprehensive Pediatric Health Check-up and MMR Vaccination for Children
Goal of this Community clinic:
Every year nearly 11 million children die before reaching their fifth birthday and most of them during their first year of life. More than half are due to acute respiratory infections, diarrhea, measles and malaria, and HIV/AIDS. In addition, malnutrition underlies 54% of all deaths. ‘The Global Burden of Disease’ indicates that the conditions will continue to be a major contributor to child deaths unless significant efforts are made to control them.
UNICEF and WHO developed the integrated management of child hood illness (IMCI) strategy. At the core of this strategy is the integrated case management of the most common childhood problems seen in low and middle-income countries, including important disease prevention and health promotion elements, such as periodic health check-ups, immunization and nutrition counseling.
