Implementation of the Toolkit Nurturing the Spiritual Development of Children in the Early Years in India-INDIA Country-level Final Report
Shanti Ashram implemented the Toolkit for Nurturing Spirituality in Early Childhood across nine Bala Shanti Kendras in rural Coimbatore, reaching 178 children, 171 parents, and 9 educators. Part of a global initiative led by Arigatou International, the Toolkit and its implementation reflected our commitment to holistic child development. By integrating the Toolkit into the daily activities at the Bala Shanti Kendras, children explored values like empathy, ethics, and self-awareness at their own pace.
Nature-based activities such as guided meditation and bird feeder projects encouraged spiritual reflection and emotional growth. Parents participated through activities and discussions, and gained deeper understanding of the role of spirituality in child development. Co-created by educators and child development experts, the Toolkit is more than a resource—it’s a movement for values-based upbringing.
This report shows how nurturing a child’s spirit uplifts families and communities. It bears witness to the impact of the toolkit on not just children but their educators and parents as well. It is a celebration of the successful pilot implementation as much as it is an invitation to continue this work and explore its potential. We look forward to continuing to walk this path at our Bala Shanti Kendras.
